L’Orchestre International de Genève (L’OIG) presents an exceptional concert under the Patronage of the Consulate of Japan (concert du 23.09.11).
After its triumphant debut in Oman, performed for the 40th “National Day” of the Sultanate of Oman, L’Orchestre International de Genève will give an historic concert at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, on Friday, September 23, 2011, under the direction of renowned conductor Emmanuel Krivine, together with Gautier Capuçon, considered to be one of the greatest cellists of our time.
With the support and commitment of partners sensitive to the tragedy which recently hit Japan and its people, this concert, under the Patronage of the Consulate of Japan, is a gesture of solidarity towards this country. It brings together 48 brilliant musicians for an unforgettable night of high emotion.
The concert programme includes Mendelssohn’s Overture The Fair Melusina; Saint-Saëns’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra No.1 in A minor; Schumann’s Overture, Scherzo & Finale; and Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony.
Chaired by Dominique Föllmi, the goal of l’Orchestre International de Genève is to present exceptional concerts which will advance Geneva’s high artistic reputation on the international scene. The orchestra has a rare ability to bring together for each concert some of the world’s most talented musicians of the younger generation, to perform in collaboration with renowned conductors and soloists.
